A combination of forests, dunes, beach and humid area. This tour starts in Gualta, the first town we pass through until we get to an old 17th century flour mill.
We follow the path up to Fontanilles, a small town at the heart of l'Empordà where it seems that time has stopped and we can enjoy the rural tranquility of the farming community.
Taking the path south, we ride past Fontclara, a town which has preserved a medievel part and has a romanic style church from the 11th century.
Continuing upwards, we're nearly at the municipality of Pals which comprises Pals, Masos de Pals and la Platja de Pals. It's one of the most interesting municipalities of the area in terms of nature and history, the variety of landscape and the richness of its heritage. The old town, of gothic origen is located at the top of Puig Aspre, one of the most admired spots of Baix Empordà.
Josep Pla wrote: "Pals is worth visiting not just once but hundreds of times because its location offers the possibility of seeing one of the most beautiful and unforgetable views in the country." In his honour one of the viewpoints has been named after this well known writer. From here you have a marvelous panoramic view of the Baix Empordà plain and the Illes Medes islands.
And now you arrive at the most adventurous part. a sandy, stony path that will test your cycling skills.
Finally, we have the opportunity to see Aiguamoll del Baix Ter wetlands and take a dip at the Platja de la Fonollera beach. Well refreshed, we take the path back towards our Burricleta centre, not before passing la Gola and la Mota del Ter.
